The Andaman Islands
Posted on 25 March 2012
Sorry it's been quiet on the blog front for the past few weeks..... I've been in the Andaman Islands, staying in the middle of the jungle with no phone reception & with the nearest internet connection a 30 minute drive away. Usually it would be absolute bliss to be so isolated, but with fabric suppliers trying to get hold of me, button orders to place, design decisions to make, wholesale orders to fulfil, labels to make & embroidery to do, you could say I was in the right place at the wrong time! This whole trip has been a huge learning experience & one of the most important things I've learnt is that things take longer, much, much longer than ever expected. I hoped that all the production work would have been finished by the time I got to the Andamans, but oh how wrong I was! I've had to change my ticket for a 3rd time (another thing I've learnt is that a ticket with free changes is a worthwhile investment), I've had to switch suppliers, change designs, make rash decisions, hold production up & sometimes make things up as I go along, but it's worth it, to end up with a product that I love, that I'm immensly proud of & that I can't wait to show you all. So now it seems I'll be coming home at the end of April..... a month later than expected. I'd be lying if I said I minded - I'll be back for Spring in the UK, the evenings will be getting longer, it will be warmer & I get to stay in crazy, wonderful, infuriating, colourful, magical, India for another 4 weeks.
